The Eddy Duchin Story

A legendary jazz musician's inspiring journey is chronicled in this film, spanning from the 1930s to the 1940s.

In the late 1920s, Eddy Duchin, a newly graduated pharmacist and aspiring pianist, moves to New York to join Leo Reisman's orchestra at the Central Park Casino. After a misunderstanding, Eddy meets socialite Marjorie Oelrichs, who helps him secure a spot with the orchestra. He becomes a successful piano showman and marries Marjorie two years later. Tragedy strikes when Marjorie dies after giving birth to their son, Peter. Eddy rejects Peter, blaming him for his mother's death. Five years later, Eddy reunites with Peter, and eventually, he enlists in World War II, breaking up his band. After the war, Eddy tries to reconnect with Peter, only to find him close to his friend Chiquita. When Eddy learns he has a terminal illness, he proposes to Chiquita and they get married.
