The Farmer's Daughter background

The Farmer's Daughter

A charismatic producer and his astute publicist secure backing for a lavish musical, but their financier demands an intense pre-production rehearsal process, starring a brilliant actress who still holds a significant emotional connection for the producer.

Broadway producer Nickie North and his press agent Scoop Trimble secure funding for a new show, but their investor demands an out-of-town rehearsal, starring Clarice Sheldon, Nickie's ex-flame. They set up camp on a rural farm, unaware of the presence of Patience Bingham, the farmer's daughter. As tensions rise, playwright Victor Walsh finds inspiration in the farm's quiet atmosphere after Trimble brings a taste of New York City to the rural setting. Just as the show is about to take off, Clarice leaves in pursuit of a new suitor, but Patience, an unexpected talent, may just become the show's new star.
