A Swedish-American farmer's daughter named Katrin "Katie" Holstrom leaves her farm to pursue a nursing career in the city. However, her tuition and expenses are stolen on the first day, forcing her to take a domestic job with Congressman Glenn Morley. As they work together, Glenn becomes smitten with Katie, who shares his passion for politics and possesses many charms. Despite their feelings, they remain silent until Katie speaks up at a party rally, catapulting her into the world of politics.
