A young couple, Sandra and Pete, elope but their marriage is deemed invalid as Sandra is not yet divorced. Despite this, Sandra becomes pregnant with Pete's child. Pete then marries his former fiancée, Maggie, before embarking on a journey to South America, where his plane crashes. Maggie offers to buy the rights to Pete's unborn child from Sandra, but things take a surprising turn when Pete is presumed dead.
