In the small town of San Vicente, Jackie Ivers, a Los Angeles nurse, discovers that her friends and family have undergone bizarre personality changes. As she investigates, she realizes that those who enter the town's lake emerge with altered personalities. As the story unfolds, Jackie is kidnapped by beings from a parallel world, a duplicate of Earth ravaged by pollution and a depleted ozone layer. The duplicates aim to take over Earth, using the "vortex" entrances, located in major bodies of water, ponds, and lakes, to transport themselves.
The Lake
As a nurse returns home to care for her ailing father, she's confronted with a strange and unsettling phenomenon: everyone she meets has undergone a drastic personality shift, leaving her feeling disconnected and disoriented.
