The Manson Murders background

The Manson Murders

The 1960s witnessed a profound transformation in social values, as youth rebelled against established norms and championed a counterculture ethos built on nonviolence and love, famously advocating "Make love, not war."

In the tumultuous 1960s, societal norms and values began to crumble, especially among the young. Hippies emerged, advocating nonviolence, love, and openness, with the iconic phrase "Make love, not war." However, their ideals were soon overshadowed by the brutal crimes of the Manson Family, led by Charles Manson, a cult leader and musician. In 1969, the group committed a series of nine murders, including the horrific slaying of 8-month pregnant actress Sharon Tate, wife of Roman Polanski.
