Lt. "Wild Bill" Traynor, a rebellious Marine, is assigned to duty under his old rival Captain Benton at a San Diego Marine Base. He becomes involved with Benton's fiancée, Dorothy Manning, and wins her over, but their wedding is called off when Bill gets into a fight at a gambling joint. Bill resigns from the Marines, but later re-enlists as a Private. He is sent to Ponta Miguel, where he discovers Dorothy's father is the governor and his old nemesis Benton is being held captive by a jungle bandit known as The Torch. Bill poses as a drunk and renegade to gain the bandit's trust and eventually helps the Marine patrol rescue Benton.
