The Piano Lesson background

The Piano Lesson

A family's cultural legacy is put to the test as they struggle to preserve their heritage, embodied in the intricate carvings on their ancestral piano.

In 1930s Pittsburgh, a brother returns home to claim a family heirloom piano, half of which he believes is rightfully his. However, his sister is reluctant to part with the treasured possession. As the brother navigates this family conflict, he is also forced to confront the harsh realities of African-American life during this era, including the societal attitudes and influences that shape their experiences.
