Louise, a widow, struggles to manage her pear orchard and care for her children on her own. The bank threatens to foreclose on her loan, and her customers doubt her abilities. One day, she hits a stranger with her car and invites him to stay at her home. The stranger, Pierre, is a man with Asperger's syndrome who is bluntly honest and loves to quote prime numbers. Despite Louise's initial reluctance, Pierre helps her sell her pear tarts at the market and becomes a presence in her life, eventually finding a sense of belonging with her.
