The Singer Not the Song background

The Singer Not the Song

A courageous Catholic priest stands firm against a cunning bandit in a tense standoff, ultimately prevailing through unwavering bravery in a small Mexican town.

In the 1950s, a small Mexican village is terrorized by bandit Anacleto Comachi and his men, who have imposed their rule with threats and intimidation. The local priest, Father Keogh, from Ireland, is sent to replace the older and broken-spirited Father Gomez. Despite warnings from Father Gomez, Father Keogh openly defies Anacleto and tries to bring the villagers back to church. In retaliation, Anacleto starts murdering villagers in alphabetical order and attempts to intimidate Father Keogh. However, Locha, the beautiful daughter of a local landowner, brings reason and innocence to the situation, and Anacleto offers to change his ways if Father Keogh can convince him that faith is not driven by personality.
