During World War II, the war's difficulties led to a shift in priorities, causing mail to the front lines to be halted. Warehouses overflowed with unfulfilled deliveries, crushing soldiers' hopes as they lost contact with their families. To solve this problem, the 6888th Battalion, an all-Black Women's Army Corps battalion with over 800 female soldiers, was sent to sort years of backlogged mail. Despite military skepticism, the Six Triple Eight aimed to deliver hope to soldiers and families worldwide.
