The Statement background

The Statement

A former Nazi executioner is pursued by ruthless assassins and dogged detectives as his dark history starts to unravel, threatening to expose his sinister deeds.

In 1992, the French government revisits crimes against humanity from WWII, prosecuting Nazi collaborators. Magistrate Annemarie Livi takes on the case of Pierre Brossard, a police officer who helped round up and execute Jews in 1944. Despite being sentenced to death, Brossard received a Presidential pardon and has been hiding ever since. Livi teams up with Colonel Roux to uncover the truth, but they soon realize that a powerful organization, possibly within the government, is working to protect Brossard. The Catholic church has also been aiding his escape, and Livi faces a daunting task in overcoming their influence.
