A stagecoach is robbed in Arkansas, with the thieves after a treasure map carried by one of the passengers. The gang kills the passenger and steals his half of the map, but his son Fred sets out to find the killers and recover the map. He enlists the help of frontier scout Old Shatterhand and his Apache brother Winnetou to track down the gang, which is led by Colonel Brinkley. The trio heads to the farm of Fred's father's business partner, Mr. Patterson, where they hope to find the other half of the map and a gold treasure at Silver Lake. However, they are not the only ones after the map, as the gang is also closing in on Patterson's farm.
