A hapless inventor, Pirdy, is constantly getting injured, making it impossible for him to secure insurance. His life takes a turn when he meets Ellen from the Yellow Cab Co. and a cunning lawyer named Creavy. Creavy becomes fascinated with Pirdy's new invention, elastic glass, and schemes to steal the process with the help of a fellow con artist, Doksteader, and a group of accomplices.
