In 1976, a mysterious disease emerges, with symptoms eerily similar to a 1871 Chicago outbreak. Dr. Earnshaw, seeking a cure, teams up with Jeffrey Adams, who claims Dr. Amos Cummings has developed time travel technology. They travel back to 1871 to learn from Dr. Henderson, who cured patients in the past, but a computer glitch sends them a day before the devastating Chicago Fire.
