A young doctor, Jerry, tries to help an ill patient, Sheilla's father, in her family home. After the patient's death, Jerry reveals that he and Sheilla are married, but her father-in-law is disappointed and disapproving. Jerry's fiancée, Jane, is upset by the news, and Sheilla is unhappy with her new life in Jerry's family home. She begins to look for a better life elsewhere, despite the scandal it might cause.
