In 1955 Munich, a sports journalist's life intersects with that of Veronika Voss, a former UFA actress rumored to have had an affair with Goebbels. Now struggling with her declining health, Voss is under the care of her doctor, Dr. Katz, who provides her with luxurious accommodations, food, and clothes in exchange for her loyalty. However, the journalist becomes suspicious of Dr. Katz's true intentions when Voss's attempts to revive her acting career are met with failure, and she becomes increasingly dependent on morphine.
