The movie takes place in the summer of 1945, where eight children liberated from the Gross-Rosen camp find refuge in an abandoned palace surrounded by forests. Hanka, a former inmate, becomes their guardian and helps them regain a sense of childhood after the traumatic experiences at the camp. However, their newfound freedom is short-lived as they soon face a new threat: feral Alsatians, former camp guard dogs that have gone hungry and are now roaming the forests, seeking food. The children are filled with terror, and their instincts kick in, forcing them to fight for survival once again.
