A young couple, Chris and Annie, experience a tragic loss when their two children are killed in a car accident. Four years later, Chris dies in a car accident and becomes a ghost, trying to communicate with Annie. However, his efforts only cause her more pain, and he decides to leave her. Chris then travels to the Afterlife, where he meets his former mentor, Albert, who helps him adapt to his new existence. Meanwhile, Annie falls into a deep depression and ultimately takes her own life. Chris is determined to save Annie and travels to Hell to find her, but his memories of their life together put the mission in danger.
