A former Russian ballet dancer is stranded in the Soviet Union after his plane makes an emergency landing. He is taken in by an American expatriate living with his Russian wife, and is offered a chance to rejoin the prestigious Kirov Academy of Ballet. However, the dancer is torn between his desire to escape the country and his need for help, and he must decide whether to trust his new host.
