Widow of St. Pierre

A French colonist's life spirals out of control following a night of intoxication, culminating in a devastating incident. Through a path of redemption, he undergoes a profound transformation, ultimately emerging as a respected and admired figure in the community.

In 1849, a drunken Ariel Neel Auguste and his partner Louis Ollivier commit a senseless murder on a fishing boat captain, Coupard. Ariel is sentenced to death by guillotine, while Louis is sent to hard labor. After Louis's accidental death during transportation, Ariel is left to await his fate in a prison cell. However, he finds redemption through helping the captain's wife, Mrs. Pauline, in her garden and eventually becomes a beloved figure in the community. When Ariel saves a local café from sinking, his popularity grows, and the public demands his pardon. Despite marrying Eleontine Jeanne-Marie, Ariel's fate is uncertain until the arrival of the ship Marie Galante, bringing a guillotine, and the governor's need to find a local executioner to carry out Ariel's sentence.
