Aaron McCann is a multifaceted filmmaker who has spent over a decade working in the Australian film industry, rising to international prominence with his diverse range of projects.
Born in Ireland but raised in Australia, McCann's online web series, Henry & Aaron's 7 Steps to Superstardom, achieved widespread recognition in 2010, followed by the success of his horror short film, Perished, in 2011.
In 2017, his TV film, Top Knot Detective, garnered attention, and in 2019, he released the documentary Koko: A Red Dog Story, which further solidified his reputation as a talented filmmaker.
Collectively, his online videos have amassed an impressive 37 million+ views, demonstrating his ability to connect with a broad audience.
McCann's versatility extends beyond filmmaking, as he was a cast member on the International Emmy Award-winning ABC2 TV Series, #7DaysLater, and contributed writing to the ABC/BBC series, The Heights, from 2019-2020, as well as At Home Alone Together in 2020.
In 2019, he was a semifinalist in the Academy Nicholl's Fellowship for his sci-fi/comedy screenplay, Big Red, co-written with Dominic Pearce, which they later adapted into their debut novel of the same name.
As a multi-hyphenate, McCann has produced and directed the award-winning web series, Hug the Sun, in collaboration with Melbourne-based comedy troupe, Aunty Donna, and is currently developing a slate of projects through his production company, Banshee Hills, and frequent collaborator PiNK PEPPER.
