Biography

Aba Arthur was born in Washington DC to parents Appianda Arthur and Aba Enim, and from a young age, she developed a profound passion for film, television, and pop culture, which would later blossom into a focused career in the entertainment industry.

Aba's academic pursuits took her to the University of Colorado-Boulder, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. During her time at the university, Aba co-founded a successful dance troupe called BAM! (Bust A Move),serving as both a co-creator and choreographer.

Upon graduating, Aba relocated to Los Angeles and began her career in the entertainment industry, landing roles in various commercials and feature films that were screened internationally. Simultaneously, she continued to hone her writing skills, a passion she has maintained throughout her career. Her first published book, 'The 21 Day Ex-Boyfriend Cleanse,' was a testament to her dedication to her craft.

Aba's creative endeavors soon led her to develop a love for screenwriting, and she went on to create over 20 script concepts. This experience inspired her to establish her own production company, The Ohemaa Project. Her debut stage production, 'Landing in Love,' premiered in 2008, and she collaborated with visual artists on her subsequent stage production, 'Breathing Art,' which toured from 2016 to 2018.

Classically trained for both stage and screen, Aba has appeared in notable plays, including 'Proof' and 'For Colored Girls.' After years of residing and working in Los Angeles, Aba relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she continued to pursue her writing, performing, and acting career.

Her television credits include appearances in 'Bad Monkey,' 'Cobra Kai,' 'Legacies,' 'Southland,' and 'Boomerang.' Aba was also cast as Nicole in the ABC series 'Queens' and played Miss Gold in the biopic 'Respect,' starring Jennifer Hudson. In 2018, she wrote, produced, and co-directed her first film, 'The Womb.'

Aba's upcoming projects include appearances in the sequel to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, set to release in November 2022, and the Oprah Winfrey adaptation of 'The Color Purple,' in which she will play the role of Abena, slated for release in 2023.
