Abbie Cornish, also known by her rap name Dusk, is a talented Australian actress and rapper. Born in Lochinvar, New South Wales, Australia, she is the second of five children to Shelley and Barry Cornish. Her sister, Isabelle Cornish, is also an actress. Growing up on a 70-hectare farm before moving to Newcastle, New South Wales, Cornish was fascinated by independent and foreign films as a teenager.
She began modeling at the age of 13 after reaching the finals of a Dolly Magazine competition and was awarded the Australian Film Institute Young Actor's Award in 1999 for her role in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's television show Wildside. Cornish's breakthrough role came in 2004 with the award-winning short film Everything Goes with Hugo Weaving, for which she received several awards, including the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Cornish's notable film roles include Candy, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Bright Star, Sucker Punch, Limitless, and Seven Psychopaths, as well as her work with writer/director Martin McDonagh in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. She has also starred in A Good Year, Stop-Loss, and W.E., and narrated Zack Snyder's film Sucker Punch.
In addition to her acting career, Cornish is a rapper, singer, and songwriter, performing under the name Dusk since 2000. She was part of an Australian hip hop group from the age of 18 to 22 and has released several tracks on SoundCloud, including "Evolve" featuring Jane Tyrrell and "Way Back Home" produced by Suffa from Hilltop Hoods.
