A.J. Castro was born in Costa Rica, a country known for its rich biodiversity and vibrant culture, and later raised in the vibrant city of Miami, Florida, where he developed a strong sense of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. As a high-school student, he dabbled in the world of movie-making, collaborating with his childhood friend to write, direct, act, and edit his own projects, a passion that would only continue to grow with time.
His first major on-screen experience was as a featured extra in the action-packed film Transporter 2, a role that would pave the way for his future endeavors in the entertainment industry. Shortly after, he made the bold move to Los Angeles, where he enrolled in the drama department at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA),to hone his craft and further develop his skills.
Since then, A.J. has been fortunate enough to book roles in numerous television shows, films, and commercials, showcasing his versatility as an actor. His impressive resume boasts appearances on hit shows such as Dexter, Will and Grace, The Cool Kids, Mr. Mayor, and NCIS, to name a few.
Aside from his work in front of the camera, A.J. is also dedicated to developing his own projects, including scripted podcasts and both comedy and dramatic television pilots. He takes great pride in his work ethic and artistic vision, always striving to push himself creatively and take on new challenges.
In his personal life, A.J. is a devoted husband and father of two sweet girls, and values the importance of family above all else. Married in 2004, he and his wife make it a point to savor every moment together, whether it's playing basketball, engaging in board games with friends, or simply enjoying a nice margarita on a relaxing evening.
