A native San Franciscan, I am a multifaceted artist with a storied career spanning 45 years, during which time I have explored various mediums to express my artistic vision.
As a painter at heart, I have always been drawn to the direct and tactile nature of working with materials, which has been a constant thread throughout my artistic journey.
My educational background is rooted in the esteemed San Francisco Art Institute, where I earned my Master of Fine Arts degree, laying the foundation for a career that would soon unfold.
For over three decades, I have had the privilege of sharing my knowledge and passion for art with students as an Art Professor at several prominent institutions, including the San Francisco Art Institute, the California State University system, and Mills College.
Throughout my career, I have had the honor of showcasing my work at prestigious exhibition venues such as the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the UC Berkeley Museum & Pacific Film Archive.
My artistic endeavors have taken me on a journey around the world, with national and international tours in Europe, South America, and Japan, allowing me to share my creativity with diverse audiences.
In recognition of my contributions to the art world, I have been awarded several prestigious honors, including an NEA Grant in 1983, a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1986, and a Flintridge Foundation Visual Artist Award in 1997, further solidifying my reputation as a respected and accomplished artist.
