Alan Silvestri is a renowned American composer, born in New York City, and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey. His early passion was to become a jazz guitar player, which led him to spend two years at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He then embarked on a journey as a performer and arranger, eventually landing in Hollywood at the age of 22.

Silvestri's breakthrough came with the 1972 film "The Doberman Gang," which marked his entry into the world of film composing. The 1970s saw him establish himself as the action rhythmatist for TV's "CHiPs," a role that caught the attention of Robert Zemeckis, with whom he would go on to collaborate on numerous films.

Silvestri's most notable collaborations include the "Back to the Future" trilogy, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?," "What Lies Beneath," "Death Becomes Her," "Contact," "Cast Away," "Polar Express," and "Forrest Gump," for which he earned an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination. His 35-year partnership with Zemeckis includes recent films such as "Flight," "Allied," and "Welcome To Marwen," with their latest project being "The Witches" based on Roald Dahl's classic book.
