Alberto Arvelo is a renowned Venezuelan writer, musician, and director, known for his thought-provoking and visually stunning films that delve into the complexities of human nature and social issues.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Arvelo has made a significant impact in the film industry, with his works winning over 30 international awards. His films often explore themes of discrimination, injustice, and loneliness, as seen in his critically acclaimed film "A House with a View of the Sea" (2001).

As a professor at the National Film School in Mérida, Venezuela, Arvelo founded the "Atom Cinema" movement, which focuses on producing reflective human films with a minimal crew and production elements. This movement has led to the creation of several award-winning films, including "Habana Havana" (2004).

Arvelo's prize-winning work, "Cyrano Fernández" (2007),is a free adaptation of the French classic, "Cyrano de Bergerac". The film is set in the chaotic urban surroundings of a barrio in Caracas and features Edgar Ramirez in the leading role.

In addition to his fiction films, Arvelo has also directed several documentaries, including "Play and Fight" (2006) and "Dudamel, Let the Children Play" (2010). These documentaries explore the life of children in the renowned Venezuelan Child and Youth Orchestra System (Sistema de Orquestas Infantiles y Juveniles de Venezuela) and the importance of art and music as universal rights.

Arvelo's most recent film, "Libertador" (2013),is a biographical drama about the life and work of Simón Bolívar, starring Edgar Ramirez, María Valverde, and Danny Huston.

Throughout his career, Arvelo has collaborated with renowned musicians and artists, including Plácido Domingo, Claudio Abbado, Simon Rattle, and Gustavo Dudamel. His work has been recognized globally, with his films participating in over 40 international festivals and winning numerous awards.
