Aleksandr Pyatkov is a renowned Soviet and Russian film and theater actor, holding the esteemed title of People's Artist of Russia.
Born in Moscow, Pyatkov's early stages of his career began at the age of 17, where he made his debut on stage as part of the crowd at the Moscow Theater of Satire. Shortly after, at the age of 18, he enrolled in the prestigious Higher Theater School of M. Schepkin, which he graduated from in 1972, subsequently becoming an actor at the Moscow Theater of Satire.
Pyatkov's professional journey continued to unfold as he joined the theater-studio of the film actor in 1974, and since 1997, he has been a regular performer on the stage of the Malyy Theater of Russia.
One of his most notable achievements was his starring role in the Oscar-winning film "Dersu Uzala" (1975),directed by the renowned Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, at the tender age of 24.
Throughout his illustrious career, Pyatkov has established himself as one of the most popular actors in Soviet and Russian cinema, frequently appearing in episodic roles across a range of film genres. In some years, up to eight films featuring his performances were released, simultaneously shot at film studios across several republics of the USSR.
In addition to his work in theater and cinema, Pyatkov has also been actively involved in television and music, showcasing his exceptional singing talents by performing romances, folk, and patriotic songs.
Moreover, Pyatkov was the founder and president of the Ilya Muromets fund, which aimed to produce children's films and fairy tales. He has also participated in various charity projects with the International Center for the Arts.
