Alexis Carra, a talented actress born and raised in Tampa, Florida, with a rich cultural heritage of Spanish, Cuban, and Argentinian descent, showcased an early passion for performance, commencing with dance classes at the tender age of two. As a teenager, she began dancing with Tampa's Bay Ballet Theater and concurrently studied with Alvin Ailey and the Princeton Ballet, while nurturing her interest in musical theater.
Growing up with a psychiatrist and psychologist for parents, education held paramount importance for Alexis, who attended Yale University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Studies, Cum Laude. During her time at Yale, she took a break to tour the country with Ann Reinking's production of the iconic Tony Award-winning musical, "Fosse," further solidifying her love for musical theater.
Upon graduating, Alexis headed to New York, quickly securing roles in some of the top Broadway shows, including "Wicked," "Sweet Charity," and "Fame on 42nd St." After closing the Broadway show, "The Pirate Queen," she decided to relocate to Los Angeles, where she has since worked continuously. Her impressive resume boasts guest appearances on TV series such as "Grey's Anatomy," "Castle," "The Mentalist," and "Bones." She also had a recurring role on ABC's comedy, "Mixology," which aired on Netflix as well.
Alexis is an ardent fitness enthusiast, frequently taking yoga and Pilates classes, running, and engaging in ballet, modern, and jazz dance classes to maintain her technique and passion for dance. She has extended her passion for dance to choreography, assisting on Fox's hit series "So You Think You Can Dance" and choreographing for The Discovery Channel's hit show, "The Beekman Boys." Moreover, she teaches a musical theater jazz class at Los Angeles's renowned dance studio, The Edge.
Philanthropically, Alexis's heart lies with women's causes. As the Head of Content Creation of the New Hollywood Women's Goal Group, Inc., she supports women in the entertainment industry and empowers them to authentically pursue their career, personal, and philanthropic goals. Alexis has produced, directed, and choreographed for benefits raising money for causes such as Free The Slaves, American Cancer Society, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
