Alicia Marie Sixtos was born to a Mexican father, Genaro Sixtos, and a Portuguese mother, Laura Angeja. Growing up in Hayward, California, she was an active and creative child, often participating in sports and putting on plays with her sisters, Casandra, Andrea, and Veronica. At the age of 11, Alicia began her journey as a print model, working towards saving enough money for college.
As she entered her teenage years, Alicia and her sisters were presented with an opportunity to move to Los Angeles to pursue careers in the entertainment industry. They quickly seized the chance, packing their bags and establishing new roots in Hollywood. Soon after the move, Alicia landed her first film role in "Quinceañera" (2006),playing the character of Eileen Garcia.
This early success sparked Alicia's passion for acting, and she continued to work towards her goal of appearing in her favorite shows. She went on to land roles in a variety of TV series, including "Califonication", "New Girl", "Entourage", "King of the Hill", "CSI: Las Vegas", and "General Hospital".
In 2012, Alicia's career took a significant turn when she landed a role in the Marvel film "The Avengers". She also appeared in the film "The Custom Mary", playing the lead character Mary in a modern retelling of the biblical story of Mary and Joseph.
Alicia's breakthrough role came in 2012 when she was cast as Maya Martinez, a troubled teenager running from a difficult past, in the Emmy-nominated and award-winning Hulu original series "East Los High". The show has since entered its fourth season.
In addition to her work on "East Los High", Alicia has also appeared in the stoner comedy "High School" (2012),playing the role of Sharky Ovante, a sassy punk cheerleader and love interest to Henry. She has also had recurring roles in the ABC Family show "The Fosters" as Carmen Cruz, a juvenile delinquent in a girls' group home run by Rita, and in the Hulu original series "East Los High" as Maya Martinez, a troubled teenager running from a difficult past.
