Alisha Ilhaan Bo, professionally known as Alisha Boe, is a multifaceted actress of Norwegian and American descent, born on March 6, 1997, in Oslo, Norway. Her father, of Somali origin, and her Norwegian mother, from Trondheim, welcomed her into the world.
At the tender age of seven, Alisha and her mother relocated to Los Angeles, California, following her mother's marriage to an American man. This significant move marked the beginning of her life in the United States. She spent her elementary school years at Woodlake Elementary School and attended two middle schools, George Ellery Hale Middle School and Ivy Academia, ultimately graduating from Hale.
During her high school years, Alisha attended El Camino Real High School, also known as "ECR" or "Elco," in the Woodland Hills district of the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. Her alma mater boasts a notable drama program, which Alisha took full advantage of. The school is also renowned for its successful alumni, many of whom have pursued careers in the entertainment industry.
Alisha's academic journey took an unconventional turn during her junior and senior year, when she attended Olin Virtual Academy to balance her studies with her burgeoning acting career. This pioneering move made her the first Somali actress to hold a leading role in an American film since the iconic Iman.
Alisha's acting debut in 2008 saw her appear in the horror film Amusement. Her subsequent roles include guest-starring in season 5 of the popular sitcom Modern Family, as well as the thriller series Extant, opposite Halle Berry. In 2015, she recurred in the comedy series Casual, directed by Jason Reitman, and appeared in CSI: Cyber, opposite Patricia Arquette, as well as in the Showtime hit series Ray Donovan. Her 2016 recurring role as Gwen on season 6 of Teen Wolf further solidified her reputation as a talented young actress.
In 2017, Alisha starred in the indie feature 68 Kill, alongside Matthew Gray Gubler and AnaLynne McCord, to widespread critical acclaim. However, it was her breakthrough role as Jessica Davis in the Netflix Original series 13 Reasons Why, at the age of 19, that catapulted her to international recognition.
