Allison's life journey began in Ithaca, New York, where he first took his first breath. His early years were spent in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, where he grew and developed as a young individual. Later on, he made the move to Evanston, Illinois, which would become his home for a significant period of time. It was during his residency in Evanston that he attended Evanston Township High School and later graduated from the prestigious Northwestern University.
As he continued to pursue his passion for the arts, Allison went on to study playwriting at The Juilliard School, a renowned institution that has produced some of the most talented individuals in the industry. His hard work and dedication paid off when his debut novel, Christopher, was selected as a finalist for the 2004 PEN Center USA Literary Award.
Allison's writing career continued to flourish with the publication of his third novel, Undiscovered Gyrl, which would later be adapted into the film Ask Me Anything. Written and directed by Allison himself, the film showcased his versatility and range as a writer and filmmaker.
