Alondra de la Parra, a talented Mexican American conductor, has made a significant impact on the world of classical music. Currently, she serves as the Music Director of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, a prestigious position that she holds with distinction. In fact, she is the first female principal conductor of an Australian symphony orchestra, a remarkable achievement that has paved the way for future generations of female conductors.
In addition to her impressive conducting career, Alondra de la Parra is also an official Cultural Ambassador of Mexico, a role that has allowed her to share her love and appreciation for Mexican culture with people around the world.
De la Parra's passion for music began at a young age. She started playing the piano at the tender age of seven, and later, at the age of 13, she took up the cello. Her musical talents were nurtured through her studies in England and the United States, where she had the opportunity to learn from renowned conductors such as Kurt Masur and Kenneth Kiesler.
At the age of 23, in 2004, Alondra de la Parra founded the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA),an organization that has been dedicated to promoting and celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Americas. Through her work with the POA, she has had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented musicians from around the world, and has helped to further her vision of building bridges between different cultures and communities.
