Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Alvaro Orlando is of Cuban/Colombian descent.
Alvaro's athletic background includes amateur Golden Gloves boxing and mixed martial arts tournaments, as well as professional break-dancing and all-around athleticism.
After high school, Alvaro worked as a camera assistant for several shows on the Spanish network, Univision. He was later asked to play an impromptu character in a comedy skit on the live television show "Sabado Gigante."
Alvaro moved to New York, where he told his grandmother that Andy Garcia would not be the only famous Latino actor to graduate from Miami Beach Senior High. He vowed to make a movie about his grandmother's journey from Cuba to Miami with no money, no English, and no family, but still making it.
In New York, Alvaro was cast as a host for the national bilingual urban show "The Roof," where he showcased his charisma and led interviews with famous celebrities while taking acting classes three times a week.
Alvaro's breakthrough role came when he was cast on Vh1's hit show "Pick Up Artist," winning the show with a grand prize of $50,000.
He then starred in the feature film "Revenge," losing 9 pounds to play the role of a young boxer named Cesar Mendez.
Alvaro also starred in Dir. Kenneth Castillo's first feature film "Drive-By Chronicles: Sidewayz," and played a challenging role as "Mariposa," a powerful and witty transvestite fortune teller in Kenneth Castillo's "Drive-By Chronicles: Nicky and Jacky."
He has appeared on TV shows such as Lie to Me, 90210, Breaking In, America's Most Wanted, and Hard Times of RJ Berger.
