Ameet Chana was born in Epsom, Surrey, and has led a life of geographical exploration, residing in various locations, including Reading, Berks, Cheam in Surrey, Croydon, and, for the past 15 years, Harrow, Middlesex, where he has lived with his parents and sister.
His educational journey began at Gayton High school, which he attended before moving on to Elm Park College, where he completed a BTEC in National Performing Arts. Ameet's early life was marked by an affinity for the performing arts, as he would reenact scenes from Amitabh Bachchan's films or sing and dance like Michael Jackson around the house.
Recognizing his son's passion for acting, Ameet's parents enrolled him in a Sunday acting workshop at the London Academy of Acting when he was just 13. This marked the beginning of his professional acting career, as he soon procured an agent and began working in television.
Ameet's early work in theatre and low-budget films was followed by a feature film for an educational program with the London Docklands Development Corporation at the tender age of 14. His breakthrough role came with the feature film Wild West, which was showcased on Film Four in 1992.
He then went on to secure a role in the hit comedy show League of Gentlemen and the cinema hit Bend It Like Beckham in 2002. Ameet's most recent and ongoing role is as a member of an Asian family on the popular soap opera EastEnders, which has been airing since 1985.
