Neo-classical composer Amelia Warner is a renowned artist, celebrated for her captivating work on various film projects, including 'Mary Shelley', 'Wild Mountain Thyme', 'Mr. Malcom's List', and the upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer produced film 'Young Woman and the Sea', starring Daisy Ridley.
Warner's unique orchestral scores, infused with electronic elements, have garnered numerous accolades, including the Breakthrough Composer of The Year award at the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) Awards, as well as nominations in the Discovery of the Year category at the World Soundtrack Awards, a Hollywood Music in Media Award, and recognition as a nominee for the ASCAP Composers' Choice Awards.
In 2018, Warner scored the Irish-American film 'Mary Shelley', directed by Haifaa al-Mansour and starring Elle Fanning. For this score, she created "otherworldly music for an orchestra haunted by ethereal female vocals".
Warner also scored John Patrick Shanley's 'Wild Mountain Thyme', which featured an original song "I'll Be Singing" co-written by Warner and Shanley, and performed by Sinead O'Connor.
In 2022, she wrote a contemporary classical score for the period romantic comedy 'Mr. Malcolm's List', in which her love theme was used to choreograph and film a grandiose ballroom scene in the film.
Born and raised in west London's Notting Hill, Amelia Warner grew up surrounded by music and developed a passion for playing the piano in her family home. Despite resisting traditional classical training, she would constantly invent melodies, and her first proper composition, at 15, was for a school soap-opera project.
Warner's first career was as an actress, following in her mother Annette Ekblom's footsteps. However, she soon realized she was on the wrong side of the filmmaking and storytelling process.
Her debut major scoring project was the British short film 'Mam', which won several awards on the film-festival circuit and led to her first feature-film composition, for 2016's 'Mum's List', starring Rafe Spall and Emilia Fox.
Warner has also released three solo classical albums to date - the most recent EP 'Haven', released in summer 2020, the 'Visitors' EP in 2017, and the debut EP 'Arms' in 2015. Her three EP releases have all reached #1 on the iTunes classical album charts.
