Amy Ray is a renowned American musician, best known as the vocalist and guitarist of the iconic Grammy-Award-winning folk/rock duo, Indigo Girls. Born with a passion for music, Amy began playing the guitar at an exceptionally early age. Her talent and dedication led her to form a duo with Emily Saliers in high school, and the duo eventually adopted the name Indigo Girls in 1985.
As their music career progressed, Amy and Emily spent several years honing their craft in college and performing in local scenes in Atlanta, Georgia, and nearby Athens. Their hard work and perseverance eventually paid off when they were signed to Epic Records in 1988.
