Amy's life journey began on the south side of Chicago, where she spent her early years before relocating to the suburbs just before entering 4th grade. This marked the beginning of her journey towards the world of acting, which she discovered during her time at Niles West High School. The school's theatrical productions, both musicals and dramas, played a significant role in nurturing her passion for the performing arts.
Amy's thirst for knowledge and experience led her to major in Theater at the University of Illinois, where she was part of the esteemed four-year acting conservatory program. Her hard work and dedication earned her a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree, setting her on the path to a successful career in the entertainment industry.
After completing her studies, Amy decided to take a leap of faith and travel to London with a six-month working visa through the BUNAC program. This move proved to be a life-changing experience, as she spent the next 13 years in her beloved second home, immersing herself in the city's vibrant arts scene.
During her time in London, Amy became an original member of the Absolute Theatre Company, performing in various productions across England, Scotland, and Prague. Her talent and versatility also led her to pursue a career in music, performing with several indie and a cappella groups, as well as a successful rock covers band called The Bertie Bassett Band.
In addition to her work in theater and music, Amy also found success in radio, creating voiceovers for various projects, including radio I.D.s, jingles, and language tapes. Her voice was also featured on several BBC World Service music radio programs. Her love for touring led her to perform in four productions of the musical "Hair," playing the role of Jeanie, and she also toured Europe with the show.
Amy's experience in theater also led her to take on roles in several productions, including the play "The Pistols" at The Hackney Empire, where she played the role of Nancy Spungen, the troubled girlfriend of Sid Vicious. Her work in TV also began during this time, as she appeared alongside Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie in the popular TV series "Jeeves and Wooster." Her first feature film, "Intimate with a Stranger," premiered at The Cannes Film Festival, earning her wonderful reviews.
After spending 13 years in London, Amy decided to return to the United States to pursue more TV and film work in Los Angeles. Since then, she has made over 50 television appearances, including popular shows such as "Black-ish," "Speechless," "Shameless," "Parks and Recreation," "The Big Bang Theory," and "Castle." Her film credits include "The Tiger Hunter," "Please Stand By," "Fishes and Loaves:Heaven Sent," and "Eat With Me."
Amy currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and son, where she continues to pursue her passion for acting, appearing in various stage and screen productions, including her starring role as Francine Foster in the web series "You've Probably Dated My Mom."
