Andrew Allan James, a multifaceted artist, excels as a producer, writer/actor, and dancer. Born in New York City to Jamaican immigrants, Andrew's formative years were spent in Orange County, with pit stops in Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale.
Early exposure to performance led to a scholarship from the Dance Theatre of Harlem at the tender age of 11. Andrew's passion for dance continued to flourish during his time at Stanford University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Economics. Upon graduation, he embarked on a professional dance career, training under the guidance of Emmy award-winning choreographer Tessandra Chavez, and joining the renowned hip-hop dance team, Kaba Modern.
Andrew's impressive dance credits include numerous music videos and live performances with notable artists such as Alicia Keys, Brandy, and Dawn Richard. His commercial success was marked by a national Target commercial, which led to his acting debut as Issa Rae's coworker nemesis in the first episode of The Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl.
As a series regular for two seasons, Andrew appeared in episodes of Insecure, The Neighbors, and Rae's Fruit podcast. He has also acted in several award-winning short films, including A Kid And His Panda (Energa Camerimage) and I Hurt Too, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Rayka Zehtabchi.
Andrew's writing credits include his series Larry & Lucy, co-starring Sujata Day, and his TV pilot Youngins, which focuses on the lives of three gay men of color in their 30s and earned him a finalist award at the LGBT Toronto Film Festival. As a producer, Andrew has created viral content that has garnered over 12 million views on YouTube.
