Andrew Amani is a talented and accomplished festival-winning screenwriter and director, with a plethora of impressive achievements to his name. In 2020, his short script, "Cabin Fever", a comedy about a couple stuck on their honeymoon during the pandemic, took top honors by winning the best script award at the prestigious Screenwriters and Actors of Hollywood script competition.
Notably, "Clowns In The Kitchen", a comedy spoof of Hell's Kitchen, was a semi-finalist at the Filmmatic Comedy Screenplay Awards and a quarter-finalist at the TSL Screenplay Contest, further solidifying his reputation as a skilled and innovative screenwriter.
Throughout his eight-year journey studying the craft of screenwriting, Andrew has honed his skills at various esteemed institutions, including the Upright Citizens Brigade, ScreenwritingU, Los Angeles Valley College, Los Angeles Community College, The Writing Pad, and UCLA. His short film, "Sumtin' Like 'Dat", created and developed at UCLA, is a heartwarming drama about an Asian musician struggling to make it in the country music industry, and it took home the award for Best Student Film at the Los Angeles Film and Script Festival in 2013.
In addition to his expertise in comedy writing, Andrew also writes topical thrillers and stories inspired by true events. He is currently preparing two feature-length screenplays for the market: "Cry-ote", a thriller based on events surrounding coyote attacks, and "The Adventures of Tabora & Kai: The River Runs Dry", an adult animation about the ancient rivalry between hyenas and lions.
Andrew's academic credentials are equally impressive, with a Bachelor's degree in theater with a focus on acting from Columbia College Chicago, a Certificate of Directing with Distinction (honors) from UCLA Extension, and a spot on the Dean's List and Phi Theta Kappa (honor's society) at Los Angeles Valley College.
