Andrew Cohn is an Emmy Award-winning writer and director hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where his creative journey began. His feature film, The Last Shift, made its world premiere at the prestigious 2020 Sundance Film Festival, boasting an impressive cast including two-time Academy Award nominee Richard Jenkins, and executive produced by none other than Oscar-winning director Alexander Payne. Prior to his foray into fiction, Cohn garnered widespread recognition for his groundbreaking vérité style documentary films.
In 2018, Cohn brought forth Warriors of Liberty City, a six-part documentary series for Starz, which the Los Angeles Times praised as "one of the best reasons to turn on a television this fall." His film, Night School, supported by a MacArthur Grant, had its world premiere at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and was subsequently released theatrically by Oscilloscope Laboratories. Furthermore, Cohn directed the documentary Kid Danny, part of ESPN Films' 30-for-30 series, as well as the music documentary Danny Brown: Live at The Majestic, which was released through Apple Music in 2018.
Cohn's debut film, Medora, executive produced by Steve Buscemi and Stanley Tucci, made its world premiere at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival, aired on the acclaimed PBS series Independent Lens, and went on to win an Emmy Award.
