Andrey Stanislavovich Rostotsky (January 25, 1957 – May 5, 2002) was a Soviet and Russian actor, director, stuntman, special effects coordinator, television presenter, screenwriter, and Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1991).
Born in Moscow, Rostotsky was the son of film director Stanislav Rostotsky and actress Nina Menshikova. He attended an English-language special school, where he earned the nickname "Besheny" due to his ability to engage in physical altercations despite his small stature.
In 1974, while still in his tenth grade, Rostotsky secretly enrolled in the acting department of the VGIK, under the guidance of Sergei Bondarchuk. After completing his education, he continued to attend the VGIK, where he made his film debut in the movie "This We Did Not Pass". Despite missing classes, Rostotsky remained an active actor, earning a prize at the VGIK festival for his role in "This We Did Not Pass".
Rostotsky's first stunt was in Sergei Bondarchuk's film "They Fought for the Motherland", where his character dies under a tank. This stunt has yet to be replicated. He served in the Soviet Army from 1978 to 1980, where he was stationed in an independent cavalry regiment and rode the horse Record, with which he won a competition on Victory Day. This horse became Rostotsky's "partner" on the set of the film "The End of the Emperor of the Taiga".
During his military service, Rostotsky appeared in the film "Gusar Lethal Squadron" for free, as he was assigned to the cavalry regiment.
