Andy Stewart, a Scottish native, was born on Halloween in 1980 in Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to pursuing his passion for horror, Andy worked as a freelance sports journalist for various Scottish newspapers.
In June 2011, Andy took the leap and launched his own horror blog-site, AndyErupts.com, which has since become a popular platform for horror enthusiasts.
Andy's first foray into filmmaking was the short film Dysmorphia, which received widespread critical acclaim and has been described as "Quite possibly the greatest short film we have ever seen" by renowned horror directors Jen and Sylvia Soska. Dysmorphia marks Andy's debut as a director and has won several awards, including the Best Practical Effects award at the inaugural Rio Grind Film Festival in Vancouver in 2012.
The film has also gained a reputation for causing fainting and vomiting at every screening, earning it further awards at various film festivals around the world.
Andy's second film, Split, was shot in August 2013 and has received similar praise to Dysmorphia, with the Soska Twins calling it "an absolute triumph. Just brilliant filmmaking".
In April 2014, Andy embarked on his most ambitious project to date, Ink, which is set for completion in mid-2014.
In addition to his work in film, Andy has also contributed to UK-based horror magazine SCREAM and website Zombiehamster.com. He has also had the opportunity to attend the 2012 Transilvania International Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, as a juror in the Shadows Shorts competition.
