Angel Vargas, a true New Yorker through and through, discovered his innate passion for acting at a remarkably young age. Throughout his elementary school years, he eagerly participated in every school play, honing his craft with unwavering dedication. As he progressed to junior and senior high, his enthusiasm only intensified, solidifying his resolve to pursue a career in the performing arts.
Angel's professional journey began with an unconventional yet remarkable start, joining the first professional uni-ball team, "The World Wheelers". This unique experience allowed him to showcase his impressive uni-cycling skills on popular children's television shows, including "To Tell the Truth", "Wonderama", and "Kids are People Too". This exposure sparked a fire within him, fueling his desire to pursue a career in theatre.
As fate would have it, Angel's professional trajectory took a dramatic turn when he landed a role in Jim Henson's production, "The Muppets". His successful collaboration with the legendary Jim Henson and Frank Oz paved the way for the origin of his iconic role, Rocky IV, in the Tony Award-winning production of "Starlight Express" at the esteemed Gershwin theatre.
Angel had the extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with the esteemed composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, director Trevor Nunn, and choreographer Arlene Philips during his six-year stint on Broadway, thereby acquiring a treasure trove of skills that would prove invaluable in his future acting pursuits.
