Angela Hartnett is a highly acclaimed and influential figure in the culinary world, renowned for her exceptional talent and contributions to the UK's food scene. As a protégée of the renowned Gordon Ramsay, she gained widespread recognition through her appearances on British television.
Growing up, Hartnett developed a profound appreciation for good food, thanks to the culinary expertise of her Italian grandmother and mother. After completing her degree in Modern History at Cambridge Polytechnic, she embarked on her professional journey, securing her first job at the prestigious Sandy Lane hotel in Barbados.
Upon returning to the UK, Hartnett joined the young team at Aubergine, where she worked under Gordon Ramsay's guidance. Despite being the only female in a predominantly male brigade, she proved herself to be a valuable asset, helping the restaurant achieve its first Michelin star within a year.
Hartnett's subsequent career milestones include stints at Zafferano and L'Oranger, where she worked under the tutelage of Marcus Wareing, rising through the ranks to become sous-chef. She then joined Wareing at Pétrus, where she became head chef and contributed to the restaurant's Michelin star achievement within seven months of its opening.
In 2001, Hartnett launched Amaryllis in Scotland, followed by the launch of Gordon Ramsay's Verre in Dubai. In 2002, she returned to the UK to open MENU and The Grill Room at The Connaught, where she combines modern European cuisine with Italian influences, while maintaining the classic standards expected of the esteemed Connaught.
In September 2008, Hartnett opened the York and Albany restaurant at the top of Parkway, Camden Town, offering a unique dining experience close to Regent's Park.
