Angus McLaren was born in the picturesque South Gippsland town of Wonthaggi, where his early life was filled with the sounds of laughter and excitement. As a young boy, he had a passion for acting, and his dream was to make it big in the world of entertainment. At the tender age of 12, he made his professional debut with a recurring role on the ABC series, Something in the Air, marking the beginning of his illustrious career.
As he grew older, Angus continued to hone his craft, landing roles in popular children's series such as Worst Best Friends, The Saddle Club, and Fergus McPhail. He also made guest appearances on shows like Blue Heelers, Comedy Inc, and the long-running Australian TV series Neighbours, further solidifying his status as a talented young actor.
In 2004, Angus landed his first main cast role in the children's series Silversun, which aired on both the Seven Network and the ABC. This was followed by his feature film debut in Court of Lonely Royals in 2005. The following year, he joined the cast of the internationally popular children's series H2O: Just Add Water, taking on the starring role of Lewis McCartney and appearing in the show from series one to mid-season of series three.
In 2008, Angus took on the main cast role of Nathan Rafter in the Channel 7 comedy/drama series Packed to the Rafters, a show that would go on to run for six seasons and feature him in an impressive 114 episodes. Throughout his career, Angus has continued to push himself as an actor, studying a Bachelor of Acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, Western Australia.
During his time at WAAPA, Angus appeared in eight stage productions, including The Marquis De Sade in WAAPA's production of Marat/Sade, The Man in Tender Napalm, and a critically acclaimed performance as the title role in Shakespeare's Coriolanus in his graduating year.
In 2016, Angus played the character of William "The Crimson Fiddler" Graham in Quartermaine, a role that earned him the Nine Network's Channel 9 Best Actor Award at the WA Screen Academy Awards.
