Anita Nicole Brown is an aspiring actress who, despite being cast in numerous independent films, still considers herself an aspiring actress because she believes that growth and learning are essential aspects of any profession, and she is dedicated to continuing to hone her craft.
As someone who entered the acting field relatively late in life, Brown has been blessed with a wealth of diverse life experiences that have prepared her for each and every character she has portrayed, including an action fighter in the films "Crisis Function" and "Crisis Function Awakening," which are still in production, a detective investigating corruption in "Wages of Sin: Special Tactics," a jury member struggling to resist the influence of her fellow jurors in "12 Angry Women," a woman who discovers her boyfriend's infidelity in "Pieces of David," and a mother pushed to the brink of desperation in "A Woman And A Gun."
Despite her numerous accomplishments, Brown has yet to achieve her ultimate goal: to demonstrate to the world that individuals with Type One Diabetes (T1D) can and will accomplish anything they set their minds to, and to change the prevailing perception of diabetics within the entertainment industry.
After nearly 17 years of living with T1D, Brown has overcome numerous challenges, including regaining the ability to walk after battling diabetic nerve damage in her legs and feet almost nine years ago. Today, Brown proudly wears her diabetes on her sleeve, literally, as she has an insulin pump and has noticed a shift in recent years towards more inclusive and accepting attitudes towards her condition within the industry.
Some production companies are now writing her characters as strong and determined individuals with diabetes, while others are allowing her to wear her insulin pump and not addressing it in the narrative, recognizing that it does not detract from her ability to deliver a compelling performance.
Brown is thrilled to be a part of this slow but significant shift in attitudes and is eager to continue making a positive impact in the entertainment industry.
