Anna Yakovlevna Parmas, a Russian director and screenwriter, was born on May 24, 1970, in Leningrad. Her father, of Estonian descent, and her mother, of Russian origin, had a profound impact on her life and career. As a child, Anna dreamed of becoming an actress, but her father's influence ultimately led her to pursue a different path. She enrolled in the Leningrad Institute of Advanced Professional Training (LIAP) and graduated in 1993 with a degree in engineering.
Although Anna's initial career choice was not a long-term fit, she continued to explore her creative side by working as an assistant director at Lenfilm and Art Pictures Petersburg. She then shifted her focus to radio, joining Modern radio and later collaborating with her first husband, Andrei Balashov. Together, they launched several popular TV projects, including 'Careful, modern!', 'Careful, modern! 2', and the talk show 'Once in the evening'. These broadcasts aired on various channels, including the Sixth Channel of St. Petersburg Television, STS, TNT, and RTR.
The 'Modern' team disbanded in 2004, and Anna went on to work as a director and screenwriter on various TV channels. She collaborated with Belarusfilm studio, where she shot the mini-series 'Gentle Winter', and with the 'Fifth Channel', for which she created the TV game 'Against the Mafia'.
