Anna Próchniak is a renowned Polish actress who discovered her passion for ballet and contemporary dance at a young age, ultimately deciding to shift her focus to theatre. She pursued her passion and graduated from the esteemed acting department of the Lodz Film School.
Throughout her illustrious career, Anna has received numerous accolades, including the Award for Best Debut at the First Contact Festival in Torun and the Award for Best Acting Duo, shared with Joanna Osyda, at the International Festival of Modern Drama "Kolyada-Plays" in Yekaterinburg, for her captivating performance in the theatre production "Natasha's Dream" at Teatr Powszechny in Warsaw.
Anna made her mark on the big screen with her debut role as Irmina in the film "Shameless" (dir. Filip Marczewski),earning a nomination for The Golden Duck Award. The movie premiered at the 47th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2012.
Her portrayal of Kama in "Warsaw 44" (dir. Jan Komasa) garnered her the ELLE Rising Star Award at the 39th Gdynia Film Festival, the Piotr Lazarkiewicz Award for Young Talent during the Polish Film Festival in Los Angeles, and a nomination for the Award of Zbyszek Cybulski.
Anna has also starred in Oscar-nominated Anne Fontaine's movie, "The Innocents," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016, and the Northern Irish film "Bad Day For the Cut" (dir. Chris Baugh),which premiered at the same festival the following year.
One of her latest features, "Oleg" (dir. by Juris Kursietis),had its international premiere in the Director's Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
